Southland installed ranch fencing and custom wood picket fencing at Beau Bassin Farms & Gardens in Sunset, Louisiana.
Lead architect Edward J. Cazayoux designed the fence, shaping its ranch and custom picket elements to suit the property.
The ranch fence defines the broader open areas without competing with the trees and grounds. Around the garden structures, the closer-spaced picket fence creates a more contained edge at a smaller scale.

The ranch fence follows the property at a scale suited to the pasture and mature landscape. Its open construction keeps long views intact while establishing a clear line across the grounds.

EDWARD J. CAZAYOUX, FAIA
The fence at Beau Bassin was designed by lead architect Edward J. “Eddie” Cazayoux and built by Southland Fence Co.
Cazayoux is principal of EnvironMental Design and an FAIA member emeritus whose work centers on sustainable architecture and historic preservation. A longtime educator, he taught architecture at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for 30 years and directed its School of Architecture & Design for 13 years. In 2023, AIA Louisiana honored him with its Medal of Honor.
His thoughtful, place-sensitive approach is reflected throughout Beau Bassin, where the fence design connects the property’s open grounds, garden spaces, and architectural character.
